Ok, well this isnt exactly a CD design but more Game front cover design so i hope its ok to post it here.

I felt it was more design then anything but a lot of work went into the actuall painting on the front part to the cover so it was hard to choose which catergory to list this under.

This was for my final major project. my task was to re design the original Half Life game cover for PS2 and make it more visually appealing and more apropriate for this action, horror kind of game. Everything was done in photoshop, apart from those round cell like circles on the back cover which was made using watercolour paint.

I ran out of time as the deadline for this was yesterday...i was originally going to have Gordan Freeman in the scene instead of the hand and gun only....maybe later i will adjust this and clean up some areas of the painting and just add it to the painting catergory without the back half.

i hope you like it...any comments and crits welcome!

This took me a great many hours to make...cant rememmber how lon exactly...must have been around 15-20 hours.

I watched this as a work in progress.
Amazing detail..
only crit is the bottom of the back of the cover at the bottom.. looks a bit empty..
But overall its great and the artwork on the front section is very good indeed...

I admit...im more of a painter then a designer but i like to vary the way in which i work so i can see things from different perspectives. the main painting as i said will probably be re posted in painting catergory within the month when i make it more detailed and clean it up, also adding Gordan freeman INTO the image.

The painting is awesome and I do love the colors. Great Job. Some tips on the title, i feel the text "half life" is a bit too thin considering the role of this video game, maybe a thicker, more presence-powerful font, with the same outer glow would do the game justice, maybe also adding a logo, icon logo, a symbol...just a thought, great job, 7/7

Loads of good work went into this.. and it rocks. Though I do feeel the typographical aspects could be better..asin the back cover text is too bold and in reverse the main Half Life Text is too thin.. but those are minor crits. Overall look is good,

Coming from a huge half-life player and a counter-strike mapper for 5 years, I'm impressed and really enjoy the scene you chose and how you demonstrated it.

The half-life text has a real "alien" feel to it. I really think you need to encorporate the orange jumpsuit color that is consistant through-out the game. Maybe just change the overall color of the brick from a yellow to an orange.

I was looking at this in the WIP forum, it turned out well.

very nice dude. awsome drawing, i seen your progress as wel. real good. Only thing that you need to work on is the logo (text) it looks good, but it would be so cool if it was just a bit more interesting. It would add allot to your design.
great work! but even with the way it is, simple its cool. Maybe just try to add a different logo or text. PM me! i would love to see it!

If only games had covers with this much energy. For awhile I could only sit back and watch GFX, and I did in fact watch this grow in the WIP forum, and I'm pleased with the result.

The lighting is great....my favorite part is actually how well you pulled off the cars on the left side...it's the little things

Ok, well I just bought Half Life 2 yesterday (never played part 1) and I must say I AM HOOKED
